Style Snaps Vol. 4 - Taking Risks

New year, new Style Snap. This volume is all about jumping out of your comfort zone, and embracing the new and different.

We collaborated with the lovely Elizabeth Manuntag of The Style Saver for this post. Her blog is all about shopping and dressing on a budget, and she is an absolute pleasure to work with. Click on over to her blog to learn all about shopping within a budget and looking great doing it!

For a lot of people, fashion can get monotonous. Whether it's fear of looking bad or lack of motivation, sometimes you can find yourself in a rut. Making the leap towards a new look or style can be tough, and we get that, but fashion should never be boring! It's your way to express yourself, to tell the world what you're all about!

For this shoot we used a trick that the fashion elite have been using for decades- we stuck to mainly one designer! This is a great trick because all the tough legwork is done for you. Designers usually stick to a cohesive aesthetic and so you can generally pick pieces from a collection, or even different seasons, and pair them together seamlessly and without hesitation.

3.1 Phillip Lim sticks to minimalist, streamlined designs and so mixing and matching with his collections are especially simple.

For the top we chose this amaaaaazing (and totally sold out everywhere!) 'Trompe L'oeil' vest (size 2, $225). The unadventurous eye might view this piece as too risky with its deep V opening in the front, but with it's simple shape and strong structure, everything stays in place and you are left looking incredibly cool and effortless!

We paired the vest with these gorgeous moto leggings (Size 2, $75). The beauty in these really come through with the intricate seams. Anyone can make a legging, 3.1Phillip Lim took it to the next level. The colour is perfectly burnt as opposed to being a shocking red so that even the most reserved of us can rock them. Flattering, functional, and just the right amount of bold.

Even though the top two pieces have their own eccentricities, they remain very minimal and streamlined. This simplicity allows for detailed accessorizing. These Givenchy heels (size 38, $450) may be intimidating to some with their elastic cages, but when paired with an easy streamlined outfit like this, they really get the chance to shine without being overwhelming.

These Balenciaga sunnies are the absolute perfect round cat-eye. Not too round, not too slim. Perfection. We topped off the outfit with this delicate House of Harlow 'Soundwaves' bracelet ($89). With it's unique shape and slim delicate housing, it honestly looks beautiful on everyone.

So that's that. 2015 is YOUR year! Take some risks! Have some fun! Show the world what you're made of and always dress for YOU! It's simpler than you think. Explore your personal style. Try some new things and be honest with yourself. You'll be happy you did, I promise.

Thanks for reading, until next time!
