THE BAND: DM (acoustic guitar);
Jeff Hill (upright bass); Andrew Sherman (piano); Ethan Eubanks
(drums).
SHOW NOTES: Combination solo/band
show; recorded from the first row center.
HIGHLIGHTS: David opens the show
with a solo "World Of A King" which turns into an acapella
rendition as he drops his pick and has to get another from his pocket.
Tonight sees the NY band debut their arrangements of several songs
from ALMOST AND ALWAYS, and they've all tuned down to the house
piano that is 'two dots flat'. Also, we get the first recorded performance
of Jackson Browne's "These Days". David attempts "You
Might See Him" twice and then gives up on it and plays a few
requests instead.
RECORDING/TRANSFER: I set levels
during the opening band, and the DM set came out very quiet. "Chatterbox"
was the loudest song, so I used the peaks during that songs to gauge
how much the recording needed to be boosted. I performed a 12dB
hard limit in Audition which brought things up to a more comfortable
level - however, the quiet songs are still pretty quiet. Dynamics
were all over the place during this show, which is the way it should
be. All level adjustments were performed on the original 96 kHz/24
bit file. As always, I made no EQ adjustments to the original file.
Files are fully tagged with ReplayGain info and titles.
DIGITAL TRANSFER: November 2008.
