CVC LUXE2015 Charity Fashion Show

Last Saturday, Courtney and I got to enjoy the LUXE2015 Charity Fashion Show hosted by CVC (Chinese Varsity Club)- a UBC Social Club. They brought many unique elements that you don't see at a conventional show.

The show featured about 10 pieces each from purely local brands including Mine & Yours, 8th and Main and  F As In Frank, with proceeds of the show all going to Canadian Cancer Society. It was a win-win situation where home brands got to come together and cultivate brand awareness, while University students got exposure to the fashion industry and exceptional, affordable apparel options.

The ambiance wasn't overly serious like other shows I've been to. There was a casual, fun, lively energy that was brought by the UBC community. The models (UBC Students) were charismatic and fun, with the audience returning the same energy. I wish I saw more of this in the industry as it demonstrates that fashion doesn't always have to be so much about technicality and breakthrough trends; it can be a fluid art form that connects a room full of people together for a great night.

The event turned out really great! It was especially enjoyable for me as a UBC student and someone who works in the fashion industry. Overall the evening showed me the importance of events like these for not only students but for small business owners as well to connect , create, and celebrate fashion, whatever that means to you!
