Jill Stuart is an American fashion designer who kick started her career at the ripe age of 15. Stuart sold her first collection to Bloomingdales which consisted of suede hobo bags and leather chokers. She then opened her first store in 1988, offering belts and handbags. By 1990, her collections of accessories were available in stores such as Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. She then launched her eponymous label in 1993, offering leather apparel such as slip dresses, kilts, jeans and jackets. Her eponymous label was launched in 1993 and included Skinclothes – a range of leather garments, such as slip dresses, kilts, jeans and jackets. Items from her collection appeared in the 1995 movie Clueless. During the mid 90’s, she began to have clientele in Japan, and eventually opened stores in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kobe.
Fast forward to present day, Jill Sander is continuing to thrive in the fashion industry and has since also released her own line of cosmetics.
