Spring 2016 Trend Report

The Spring buying season is just around the corner for us and what better way to get into the mood than our spring trend guide! Here are our top 10 trends that we are loving and will be keeping our eyes peeled for as we do our buying for the season! Have some amazing items that you're ready to part with? Bring them in on any one of our buying days (Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday) and we will be more than happy to take a look!

1. Magpie Dressing

See something that sparkles, has that certain je ne sais quoi or just makes you feel great!? Pick it up this season! You'll be more than happy you did with brands like Gucci, Isabel Marant, and Courreges all looking to the shinier, more eclectic things in life as major themes to their Spring 2016 collections. We generally like to think of this season's magpie as a girl who loves collecting unique pieces and layering them all on as the perfect reflection of her personal style. When piling it on this season, more is more!

2. Geometric Bags

Circles, squares, and half moons, oh my! This season bags are structured and geometric to bring some clean lines to whatever look you're going for. We LOVE the this one by Martin Margiela as perfect examples of how this trend should be done while still remaining super functional.

3. The Romantic

Floaty dresses and lace accents are a Spring mainstay and this season is no exception. We blame the geniuses over at For Love and Lemons for creating incredible sets and dresses that are the perfect amount sensual as they are modern and romantic. Look no further than runway powerhouses like McQueen and Valentino for that perfect dose of ethereal beauty.

4. Lace me Up

Whether its on shoes, dresses, or tops, we are loving the lace-up trend for Spring. Part boho, part badass, laces make the perfect accent for tops and dresses to amp up your style game. We like to think of this as one of the major ways that the 70's trend is staying relevant this Spring, but still remaining modern like these Chloé sandals.

5. Denim Redux

Boring denim be gone, this season we are loving the multitude of ways that demin was shown, from raw and frayed, to feminine and fitted dress silhouettes, denim took on a whole new look this season on the runways. Look to Chloe and Marques Almaeida for some serious runway inspiration.

6. Ruffles

Ruffles were nearly inescapable on the runways for Spring 2016, proving that they are here to stay! If you cant quite get you on board with the more Victorian looks over at Zimmerman and Jason Wu, look no further than Rosie Assoulin for an oversized and architectural ruffle that proves they're not just for the Victorians. Gucci also brought the ruffle to a two dimensional level that we are kinda-sorta obsessed with!

7. Power Clashing

Look no further than Gucci for some major power clashing inspiration. Unexpected colour combos reign supreme this season and we say, the bolder the better. As a gateway into the trend try sticking with monochromatic pieces and pairing them in unexpected ways but if you really want to commit, go for opposing prints and bold patterns that prove opposites attract.

8. Athleisure

Thank Drake for this one, athleisure is the comfiest trend we have seen in a while (close tie: Pajama dressing). Think street style meets luxury when executing this one and go for a mix of high and low. Pair your bomber with sneakers and shift dress or a stand out blouse and you'll be thanking your lucky stars for that Hotline Bling video.

9. Show Your Stripes

This season your tried and true staple has gotten a bit of a makeover. Nautical stripes are getting a little less 'basic' by amping up the volume. This super wide, thick stripes for a more modern take on a tried and true Spring standby.

10. Flat Mules

We are just going to go ahead and call these bad boys the shoe of the season. Is there anything more chic than a classic mule?!  There's nothing quite as effortlessly chic as a great pair of shoes you can slip on as you head out the door and pair with virtually any outfit. Opt for something croc embossed or in a suede for that extra luxurious touch.

As always, these are just some of the major trends that we are loving for the coming season and are help shape what we buy. For a complete list of designers that we normally like to carry, click right HERE
