The Vancouver Sun: Two to Watch

Robson Street took a different fashion step recently when Jigme Love and Courtney Watkins not only opened a pop-up store but stocked it with mostly pre-owned womenswear. A two-month satellite of their Mine & Yours store on Hornby Street, it offers the high-end garments, shoes and accessories the two buy — no consignments — “so we have to be sure they’ll sell,” Love said.

Love parlayed her International University of Monaco MBA and a federal-government communication job into five years of writing business plans for such European concerns as business-jet operator Cloo Air, “But it never took off,” she said, laughing. Watkins, a former wholesale fashion representative in L.A., managed her family’s cedar-shake-and-shingle firm, S&W Forest Products Ltd.

With Kitsilano, South Granville and Main Street pop-ups eyed, Mine & Yours also stocks new merchandise. Some comes from Vancouver-raised, L.A.-based twins Alexis and Kym Naven’s self-named line. Mine & Yours’ own brand should launch next summer. “But our bread and butter will always be luxury and designer resale,” said Nehring, whose Jigme name, usually given only to males, means “fearless warrior” in Tibet and Bhutan.
